Digital TV
If you or someone you know has limited access to the internet, Community Legal Advice is also available on digital interactive television.
Using your remote control, you can:
- search our directory for a legal adviser in your area
- get information about debt, benefits and tax, employment and housing
- order copies of our information leaflets to be sent to your home
- read about our service.
You can access Community Legal Advice through two services: Directgov and Looking Local.
Directgov
Community Legal Advice is delivered to your TV via Direct Gov. Directgov provides a wide range of other public services and government information.
Alternatively, if you’re on the move, you can search for solicitors, order legal information leaflets and get information via Directgov mobile.
Digital TV instructions
- Virgin Media: Press the Interactive button, choose News and Info and then select Directgov (no charge).
- Sky: Press the Interactive button and select option 8 (your Digibox will make a call charged at local rate).
Mobile phone instructions
- Enter www.direct.gov.uk/mobile into your phone’s internet browser (roughly 1p per 5 pages viewed, depending on your mobile contract).
Looking Local
You can also access Community Legal Advice using Looking Local. This is a local government digital TV portal that covers the whole of the UK. It is available 24 hours a day for free via Sky, Virgin and Freeview boxes with a modem or broadband connection.
Looking Local is also available on any mobile phone that can access the internet. Costs of web access on a mobile phone vary depending on your operator.
Digital TV instructions
- Sky: Press the Interactive button, select SKY Active, then Interactive Services, then Local Services, then Looking Local.
- Virgin: Press the Interactive button, select Home and Away, then Find It... then Looking Local.
- Freeview (boxes with a modem or broadband connection only)
